What is the church? Many people think of buildings but the answer to the question is people. The church is the people! We don't simply decide to be the church, either. God has brought us together. Each of us has heard God's voice of invitation and by being here, we have openly accepted the invitation.
Why the church? We are God's people because God wants it that way. He doesn't want to be glorious and majestic alone but with us, in relationship to us. And the most complete way of doing so was for God to come down to us. He did it in Jesus Christ, who is God with Us. Jesus has promised that wherever two or three are gathered in his name and for God's purpose, there he will be, also. So that is what brings us all hope and joy and comfort and courage: the truth that God is with the church. We are in God's will and that is what we strive to do.
The church is God's place for everyone: We all come as we are: happy and sad, healthy and sick, young and old. We are all unique with different gifts to share. And the thing we hold most in common is that we are all sinners who want and need to receive God's saving goodness. We want new life and know that it comes from Christ alone.
God gives it freely to all---no matter what. Nothing you have done, nothing you are guilty of, nothing you are ashamed of can keep you from God's forgiveness and grace. There is a place for you because of Christ. So come and join us... just as you are.
